It is almost 30 years since Keanu Reeves and Sanda Bullock boarded a bus in Speed, and when asked whether he would consider returning for a third movie in the action franchise, Reeves seemed to be potentially up for a reunion with Bullock and had one condition for doing it. When asked by Access Hollywood what would get the pair of them back together for a new movie, Reeves simply said:

“A great story, a great script.”

While Speed certainly delivered an impressive thriller, Reeves did not appear in the heavily criticized sequel, Speed 2: Cruise Control. The first film had a number of elements that came together in just the right way to make some truly ludicrous moments just work. Although Reeves dropping out of the sequel could suggest that he was done with the franchise after one movie, his reason for not returning was that he simply didn’t like the script. That makes his new comments suggest that it possible that if someone was to offer up the right script then he would be more inclined return.

Keanu Reeves has no problem revisiting some of his older movie franchises if the circumstances are right. In the last few years, Reeves has reprised his roles in The Matrix Resurrections and Bill and Ted Face The Music, and there is still a distant possibility that he could play the role of John Constantine again in a sequel to his 90s DC movie sometime in future. There are many fans who would be happy to see him add Speed 3 to this list.

This weekend sees the highly anticipated John Wick saga make its return to cinemas, with Keanu Reeves reprising his role as the skilled assassin. While many franchises have been known to flounder by their fourth instalments, it seems that John Wick: Chapter 4 is going to buck the trend after receiving the highest critical score of the franchise and heading for an impressive box office debut.

John Wick: Chapter 4 is the longest movie in the franchise at just under three hours, and that means the film boasts some of the most thrilling action sequences the saga has delivered across its three previous entries. However, bringing more elaborate scenes to screen means a more challenging shoot and director Chad Stahelski recently revealed that one scene shot in a Berlin club was particularly tricky to get right in the edit thanks to the combination of 300 people, a thumping soundtrack, and flashing lights to contend with.

“When you edit, you're trying to find the rhythm of the lights. So we have a light coordinator that's trying to keep the reds, yellows, blues, greens of the club matched to the same guy that's doing the musical playback so the beat is landing at the same time, so you don't get 300 people, and then another 300 people, on the wrong beat. Then on top of that, you have people that will look at the camera or not be in the right spot or something. You know, it's a whole other layer of things that can go wrong when you're trying to nail these fight-beat moments."
