Speculation on casting for Thor has been running rampant, and now Kenneth Branagh has spoken out about at least one actor who might be involved in the film - even if not necessarily as Thor himself. Branagh, speaking to IGN Movies confirmed that his co-star in Wallander, Tom Hiddleston, is in the running for a role in the film.

"Tom Hiddleston is a great actor and he, amongst a number of others, has been part of the group we've spoken to and all that's still a work in progress," Branagh said.

Branagh is between shooting on episodes of Wallander, a series of mystery television movies. Branagh explained how his schedule is working out between the two projects. "Well, I'm working currently on Thor for Marvel and we're planning that one. We're having a great time at the moment. We're in intense pre-production," Branagh says. "I shoot Thor in January of next year and because the time of release has been moved, it's allowed me to have a moment in the summer where I can shoot the Wallanders."

Hiddleston is an unlikely choice to play Thor himself, but might be an excellent choice to play Thor's mortal alter-ego, Donald Blake. click Here to see a picture of Hiddleston.
