Kenneth Welsh as Windom Earle in Twin Peaks

Welsh is likely most remembered for the role of Windom Earle during the second season of the surrealist mystery series Twin Peaks. He appeared on ten episodes, from 1990 to 1991, as FBI agent Dale Cooper's (Kyle MacLachlan) former partner and mentor turned villain.

Obsessed with the possible powers of the Black Lodge, Earle appears in the fictional Washington town after murdering his wife, Caroline. While Windom Earle is on the hunt for the Black Lodge, he taunts Cooper and sends him articles of Caroline's clothing. Welsh's humorous and dark performance as the chess obsessed character remains memorable among viewers of the television show.

Welsh had a lead role in the final episode of Twin Peaks in 1991 when he asked Dale Cooper to give up his soul. He did not appear in the 2017 reboot.
