According to The Hollywood Reporter, Keri Russell is joining Jonathan Rhys Meyers in August Rush, a drama being directed by Kristen Sheridan for Warner Bros. Pictures. Richard B. Lewis is producing via his Southpaw Entertainment banner.

The story centers on August Rush, a young musical prodigy performing on the streets of New York who uses his talent to seek his parents, from whom he was separated after he was born. Russell and Rhys Meyers play the parents, with Russell acting as a sheltered cellist. Freddy Highmore has already been cast as Rush and Robin Williams as his mentor. The music, which plays an integral role in the story, is being scored by Mark Mancina while the theme is being co-written by Hans Zimmer and Mancina.
