Kevin Costner will reunite with The Upside of Anger director Mike Binder for Black and White.

The actor is starring as a grandfather who lost his wife in a car accident, and then lost his daughter during the birth of his granddaughter. Since then, he has been raising his bi-racial grandaughter on his own. He becomes locked in a custody battle with the child's paternal grandmother, where race becomes a hot-button issue.

Mike Binder is directing from his own original screenplay, while also producing alongside Kevin Costner and Todd Lewis. Production is scheduled to begin this summer in New Orleans.

After receiving an Emmy for his performance in the mini-series Hatfields & McCoys, Kevin Costner returns to the silver screen later this year with Man of Steel and Jack Ryan. The actor is currently shooting the football-themed drama Draft Day.
