From the moment fans realized that the trailer for Avengers: Infinity War had been lying to everyone about how the movie would play out, Marvel Studios has had an ongoing battle to attempt to prevent their biggest movie secrets from leaking ahead of time. Whether it has been through the loose lips of actors, leaked images or just lucky guesses, there have been many surprises that have been "spoiled" ahead of big movie releases such as Spider-Man: No Way Home. Now Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige has accepted that it is becoming almost impossible to keep the surprises from leaking, which means that they have to make sure that their movies rely on more than just some unexpected character arrivals and events.

While appearing during the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness press conference, Feige said that keeping spoilers from making it into the public domain was getting harder and harder with so much attention being put on the biggest releases. He added that it is simply more important to make sure that Marvel movies and shows are still worth seeing regardless of how much audiences already know about them. He said:

"The unfortunate truth is you don't, and therefore you need to make sure that the experience itself works, regardless of what has been spoiled or not. We still do as good a job as we can and I think a lot of people are getting good at not spreading it. You know somebody steals something, don't spread it around because it just potentially lessens the experience, but in a lot of ways, No Way Home showed that it did not lessen the experience, so we will continue to do the best we can, but the most important thing is delivering the movie or the show that delivers regardless of what you know going in."

Despite the recent trailers and TV spots for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness having given fans glimpses of some of the characters who will be appearing in the movie, like Professor X, Captain Carter and multiple versions of both Stephen Strange and Wanda Maximoff, there is still a lot unknown about the movie. We know very little about the plot, how any of the footage we have seen so far fits together, or the movie's outcome is likely to be.

The upcoming movie is probably one of the best adverts for how a Marvel movie can give away a lot of its secrets but still maintain fan expectations and hype in the run-up to its release. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has already been racking up a huge advance ticket sale volume and is expecting to see the biggest opening weekend of the year when it arrives in cinemas at the end of this week. With other big Marvel movies Thor: Love and Thunder and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever following this year, 2022 will see the MCU continue to grow without any end in sight.
