Warner Bros. Pictures has brought in Oscar-winning documentary director Kevin Macdonald to direct 28th Amendment, a political thriller produced by Richard Donner (Superman), reports Variety.

The story revolves around a young U.S. president who discovers the existence of a secret cabal that runs the government and wants him dead.

Macdonald won the 2000 Oscar for best documentary for One Day in September, which followed the tragic events of the Israeli athletes killed during the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. His next feature film is Fox Searchlight's upcoming The Last King of Scotland, based on the life of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin and starring Forest Whitaker and James McAvoy.
