Kevin Smith is about to go where he has never boldy gone before: space. According to The Hollywood Reporter, filmmaker Kevin Smith will be developing a futuristic sci-fi comedy set in outer space.
The project is untitled for the moment, but Smith has finished a first draft of the screenplay and, according to insiders, Harvey and Bob Weinstein have read part of the scrip and might be interested in making the film.
Smith said he would be seeking a budget figure between $45 and $50 million, double that of his biggest-budgeted film, the forthcoming Zack and Miri Make a Porno, which cost $25 million and will be released on October 31.
"The moment someone steps out of the spaceship, it's going to cost a little more," Smith said.
Smith also said that he won't be eyeing up this film for awhile, as he would do this film after his next project, Red State, which he is trying to secure financing for a spring start.
