Kevin Smith may have directed Seth Rogen in Zack and Miri Make a Porno, but he isn't done with him yet. Smith told SCI FI Wire that he wants to use Rogen in a superhero movie he is currently developing.
"First, I'm going to do a 180 turn and do a horror movie called Red State," Smith said. "It's going to be a total horror-political-psychological movie without a funny line in it. Then I'm going to do the science fiction superhero movie. It's going to be an original superhero that I've created. It's stewing right now. I want to do it, though, and, God willing, it will star Seth Rogen."
Smith is no stranger to working with superheroes and comic books. Several of his films (Mallrats, Chasing Amy and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) have had significant comic book elements involved. Smith owns his own comic store in New Jersey, and he has written several very well received series (including Daredevil and Green Arrow) for both Marvel and DC Comics. "I haven't written a comic book for about three years, but I am going to write a Batman soon," Smith added.
While the unnamed superhero film with Rogen and Smith may still be a ways off, you can see Rogen under Smith's direction when Zack and Miri Make a Porno hits the theatres October 31, 2008. And if you're just dying to see Rogen take on a superheroic role, The Green Hornet, starring Rogen, should arrive on June 25, 2010.
