Vulture is reporting that that two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey has started talks with Showtime about starring in The Crux.

The show is a drama series in which the actor would play the leader of an extremely high-profile cult. Writer/Director Rod Lurie (Straw Dogs) is going to pen the pilot script. At present there has only been one meeting on the project, but both Showtime and Spacey want this to happen.

It seems that Spacey's schedule is the one thing that could trip this whole process up. In addition to his film roles, Spacey must devote a lot of time to his obligations as artistic director for London's Old Vic Theatre.

However, the feeling is that since Spacey came to Showtime with the project there is a good chance that it will happen.
