'Tell Tong Po I'm coming for him next!' From the producers of Riddick and The Last Samurai comes the first trailer teaser for Kickboxer Vengeance. Dave Bautista is seen entering the ring in this sneak peek, which also includes an introduction to characters played by Georges St. Pierre, Gina Carano, Alain Moussi and the return of Jean-Claude Van Damme. We get to see one swift kick to the face and the bang of the gong, along with the promise that a full-length trailer is coming soon.
Kickboxer Vengeance is a reboot of the popular Kickboxer saga that debuted in 1989. Jean-Claude Van Damme made a name for himself with this brutal and honest look at the world of kick boxing and underground martial arts. Since then, there have been four other sequels. But Jean-Claude never returned as Kurt Sloane. Now, that role is being played by Alain Moussi while Van Damme takes on a character completely new to the franchise.
No plot details have been revealed for Kickboxer Vengeance, but the tagline included on the poster released earlier this year hints that there will be one major twist that further fuels Kurt's revenge. In the original, Sloane started out life as a cornerman for his brother Eric before becoming a master kick boxer himself. And once again, he will face off against Tong Po in a fight to the death!
Dave Bautista takes over the role of Tong Po in Kickboxer Vengeance. And this beast is definitely someone you don't want to mess around with. Tong Po was first introduced in the original Kickboxer, played by Michel Qissi. He was Thailand's undefeated champion, but we're not sure if his back story will get an update or reimagining. The original story saw Po paralyzing Kurt's brother after refusing to stop a fight that has Eric throwing in the towel. Darren Shahlavi is playing Kurt's brother Eric. But it looks like Eric's injures will be a lot more serious this round. In fact, we don't think the poor man is going to make it past the first act intact.
Kickboxer Vengeance marks the first time Jean-Claude Van Damme has returned to the series since the original film. Nothing more is known about his character yet. But it sounds like he has some advice to give. And we're sure he'll be fighting someone at some point. Otherwise, why have him in the movie? While we await the first trailer for Kickboxer Vengeance, take a look at this sneak peek that introduces all of the characters returning of this reboot.
