Best known for his role as the indestructible counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer on the hit action-drama series 24, Kiefer Sutherland has officially begun filming a new action series Rabbit Hole. CBS Studios production for the upcoming eight-episode series is fully underway with filming taking place in Toronto, Canada. Being the son of accomplished actor, Donald Sutherland, acting and the world surrounding it is clearly in Kiefer’s blood.

In addition to playing the series lead, Sutherland also serves as executive producer working with writers-directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra (This Is Us, WeCrashed). Other executive producers include Sutherland’s former producer from his time on Designated Survivor, Suzan Bymel. Other executive producers on the project include Charlie Gogolak (The Sinner, WeCrashed) and Hunt Baldwin (Longmire, The Closer). The series is set to premiere on Paramount+ sometime in 2022 in the U.S. as well as internationally in Australia, Canada, U.K., Germany, Italy, Austria, France and Switzerland.

Never Frame a Master of Deception for Murder

Rounding out the dynamic cast of characters for Rabbit Hole are Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as Dr. Ben Wilson, Meta Golding (Empire) as Hailey Winton, Enid Graham (Mare of Easttown) as Josephine “Jo” Madi, Jason Butler Harner (Ozark) as Valence, Rob Yang (Succession) as Edward Homm and Walt Klink (Arctic Circle) as The Intern.

The series takes place in a world of corporate espionage. John Weir (Sutherland) is a private espionage operator and master of deception who is framed for murder by the powers that be who have the extraordinary ability to manipulate behaviors, use state surveillance and influence the population with misinformation. Wier soon finds himself in a battle with the very fate of democracy in the balance as he goes up against world-controlling forces.

The gravelly smoke burnish voice actor has previously credited his time on 24 as training for him as an actor given the fast-paced action involved on the show. Sutherland has expressed interest in revving 24, admitting to missing portraying Jack Bauer and feeling his character’s story is unresolved. But he is not getting his hopes up too high. There had been starts and stops before. There have also been some ongoing discussions, or least hints, of Sutherland making a return to the neo-noir sci-fi thriller Dark City reboot. Meanwhile, audiences will have to wait and see if John Weir can create an adrenaline rush as he fights to save his life.
