Killer Films will be taking on a historical Conquerer for its next film. According to Variety, the production company has signed a deal with GC Corp to produce William the Conquerer.

The film will be a biopic based off the story of the illegitamite son of the Duke of Normandy and his ascension to being King of England in 1066. Brian Edgar and Derek Wallbank penned the script.

The film is the first big-budget affair for indie-driven Killer Films, whose credits include Boys Don't Cry, Far From Heaven and Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

"This is a big-budget studio movie. For many years we've been interested in a bigger canvas. It was just a matter of finding the right project," Killer Films' Pamela Koffler said.

No production schedule for the film was announced.
