One of the surprise hits of last year was 20th Century Fox's action-thriller Kingsman: The Secret Service, which, despite debuting against the box office blockbuster Fifty Shades of Grey, took in $128.2 million domestically and $414.3 million worldwide, from an $81 million budget. That movie introduced fans to rising star Taron Egerton, who will return as Eggsy in the highly-anticipated sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which shifts the action to America this time around. While doing press for his new animated musical Sing, Taron Egerton recently made some bold claims about this action-packed sequel.

We reported last month that 20th Century Fox recently pushed Kingsman 2 out of its June 16, 2017 slot, giving it a new release on October 6, 2017, after the studio moved up Alien: Covenant from August 4, 2017 to May 19, 2017. This sequel will have plenty of high-profile competition in its new release date, going up against Warner Bros.' Blade Runner 2049 and and Lionsgate's My Little Pony. The first movie fared just fine against a high-profile competitor, so the sequel may still perform well, especially with Taron Egerton revealing to CinemaBlend that the follow-up is bigger and crazier. Here's what he had to say below, while praising Julianne Moore's villainous character.

"(Matthew Vaughn) goes even further with it. It's kind of absolutely crazy. Julianne Moore is the villain, and she's genuinely terrifying. She's really, really, really great. So it's bigger, badder, more guns, you know? All that stuff. It's fun."

Production wrapped on Kingsman 2 back in September. The plot reportedly centers on Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Merlin (Mark Strong) visiting the U.S., where they meet Halle Berry's character and a "swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy" called Jack Daniels, played by Pedro Pascal. That report also revealed the U.S. version of Kingsman is an organization known as the Statesmen, while we saw concept art of Julianne Moore's villainous lair, known as Poppyland. Now that the movie has been pushed to an October release, Taron Egerton was asked when the first trailer may drop. While he didn't have a definitive answer, the actor believes we may be just a few months away from seeing the first trailer.

"I can't imagine it would be very deep into next year, I think maybe there would be a teaser within the first couple of months of next year. We're now an October release. It depends, I really don't know. Matthew Vaughn works in mysterious ways, but you won't be disappointed, it's going to be awesome."

Along with Taron Egerton and Mark Strong reprising their roles from Kingsman: The Secret Service, Colin Firth is also returning as Harry Hart, despite the fact that he was supposedly killed towards the end of the first movie. The star-studded cast for Kingsman: The Golden Circle also includes Channing Tatum, Elton John, Jeff Bridges and Vinnie Jones. Matthew Vaughn directs from a script he co-wrote with frequent collaborator Jane Goldman, who both wrote Kingsman: The Secret Service, Stardust, Kick-Ass and many others. Hopefully the first trailer for this action sequel will arrive very soon.
