Director Matthew Vaughn doesn't appear to have any intention of leaving the spy genre after The Kingsman's, as he is now writing and directing on a new film centering on the author of a best-selling series of espionage novels. Who it turns out is a spy herself, or was but she has amnesia and no idea of her undercover tendencies. Once her past returns with a vengeance, so does her lost memories in a clever turn on the character with a past life/amnesia storyline, which is currently hunting down Jurassic World's Bryce Dallas Howard to take the lead role.

Further details on the plot see the lead believing that everything she has written has been works of fiction, but as her true skills come back to her, she finds that she has been plotting the downfall of a shadowy group called The Division, who she used to be employed by. Sam Rockwell is being sought as the heroine's lover, while Samuel L Jackson is wanted to play a rogue agent hell-bent on bringing down the spy network.

Jackson has already worked with Vaughn in the original Kingsman: The Secret Service movie back in 2014, and we are all up for a re-teaming of the star and director in another action packed spy-orientated thriller. As well as the three names already out there, it seems that there are many rumors of other big name stars on Vaughn's hit-list in what is turning out to be another large ensemble cast.

Vaughn's successful Kingsman series has so far managed to bring in just over $800 million, with the third film, the prequel The King's Man, which stars Ralph Fiennes in a World War I setting, due out in December and set to take the franchise well over $1 billion after its many pandemic delays. The Kingsman films are not Vaughn's only big hitters either, as he was responsible for the revival of the X-Men in First Class in 2011.

In the latest Kingsman movie, there was another cast of big names, which as well as Fiennes includes Gemma Arterton, Tom Hollander, Rhys Ifans, Daniel Bruhl and Charles Dance, which will bring a whole new era to the Kingsman franchise. Telling the story of how the original "King's Man" came to battle against a collaborative effort by history's tyrants to plot a war that would wipe out millions around the world. As we have come to expect from the series, there will be plenty of action and a little humor along the way.

The movie was originally supposed to arrive in cinemas in November 2019, but was pushed back twice in quick succession, first to February 2020 then to September of that year. With the Covid19 pandemic arriving, the release date was then moved four more times, being expected in February this year, March and August, before finally settling in December. Barring any further unexpected changes, perhaps we will finally get to see the movie before the year is out. Either way, by the time The King's Man hits theaters, we should see Matthew Vaughn's new spy thriller start to take shape. This news comes to us from Observer.
