Now that actor Garrett Hedlund is in talks to star as Kaneda in Warner Bros.' Akira, casting has been shifted to other roles. A new report reveals that actress Kristen Stewart has been offered the female lead Kei in Akira. There is no word yet on whether or not the actress has accepted the offer.

Kei is a psychic medium who falls for Kaneda in the original Katsuhiro Ôtomo manga, although no character details were revealed for this new live-action remake. The story centers around Kaneda, the leader of a New Manhattan biker gang who sets out to rescue his best friend Tetsuo from a military experiment. We reported earlier this month that actors Ezra Miller and Alden Ehrenreich have read for Tetsuo, but it isn't known if any offers have been made yet.
