Kristin Chenoweth is in talks to join the cast of The Boy Next Door for Universal Pictures and director Rob Cohen. We first reported on this project earlier this month, when Jennifer Lopez signed on to star.

The story centers on a separated mother (Jennifer Lopez) who becomes attracted to the teenage boy who moves in next door and becomes friends with her son. After briefly striking up a romance with the young boy, she breaks it off abruptly, only to realize how obsessed he has become with her. Kristin Chenoweth is playing the mother's best friend.

Rob Cohen (xXx, The Fast and the Furious) is directing from a screenplay by Barbara Curry. Jason Blum, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Barry Medina and John Jacobs are producing, with Zac Unterman serving as executive producer. Shooting is scheduled to begin this fall.

Kristin Chenoweth recently starred in Hit and Run and Family Weekend. She also lent her voice to the upcoming animated sequel Rio 2.
