Ever since Daredevil stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio made their debut in the MCU timeline as Daredevil and Kingpin respectively, fans have been wondering when other characters such as Jessica Jones and Luke Cage may turn up. While Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter has previously made it clear she would love to return to her role, and previously posted a snap of herself sporting a very “Jessica” hairstyle, a new photo shared by the actress has started a whole wave of speculation about her Marvel future.

Ritter played Jessica Jones in three seasons of the Marvel Television series before it, and the other shows in the Defenders Saga, were canceled. Along with the return of Daredevil and Kingpin, we have now also seen Anson Mount’s Black Bolt appear in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, bringing the ill-fated ABC series Inhumans into the MCU fold with the same actor playing a variation on the character as seen in that show. This once again suggests that in some way, there is a chance for anyone to return to roles that they thought had been consigned to history.

Now Ritter has upped the ante in the speculation stakes by sharing an image on her Instagram account showing her with Luke Cage actor Mike Colter, seemingly somewhere in California together. While she added no comments to the image other than Colter’s Instagram handle, it didn’t need any for fans to star speculation as to why the pair were together and if it is another hint at something being afoot in relation to a possible Marvel return for the pair.

Along with Daredevil, Jessica Jones was one of most popular series in the Netflix collection of Marvel shows. While fans would be happy to see Krysten Ritter back as the superhuman private investigator, the actress herself expressed an interest in continuing her Marvel adventure in the future. Speaking to ComicBook.com previously, Ritter said:

"I absolutely love Jessica more than anything. And I loved those years playing her. If there was ever an opportunity for her to pop up anywhere, I would be the first [to say yes]. I may or may not have the jacket ready to go in my closet. So, you never know, but if I ever had the opportunity to play her again, I would be so thrilled. I'm always down to do it again. It was an absolute dream. And I love her. I love that character. I love the way that she connected with so many people in a deep way and resonated with women and girls in an exciting way. I am just so proud that I got to play such an iconic character."

The entire Defenders Saga is now available on Disney+ along with – almost – the whole MCU so far. With Daredevil and Kingpin both rumored to be returning to screens again in the not too distant future, can it really be much longer before Jessica Jones or Luke Cage also make their MCU debut?
