Rumors of Krysten Ritter’s return as Jessica Jones have been circulating from the moment Charlie Cox’s Daredevil was confirmed to be joining the MCU. With Marvel Studios having reclaimed their Defenders Saga characters from their original outing on Netflix, fans have been questioning how many former stars will return to reprise their roles in upcoming MCU projects. Now a new workout image shared by Ritter has sparked rumors all over again.
Ritter’s Jessica Jones was one of the most popular of Netflix’s Marvel Television shows, sitting alongside Daredevil and The Punisher as solid fan favorites. For that reason alone, fans have been crying out for Ritter to reprise her role in one of the upcoming “street level” Marvel shows coming to Disney+. This has included possible appearances in Echo, Daredevil: Born Again, or even an upcoming Spider-Man movie. But, for now, fans can only continue to speculate online, and pictures of Ritter working out in a T-shirt that states“ I Choose Justice” will always instigate that.
Jessica Jones’ return is something that has been discussed many times in the last year, whether through social media posts by Ritter featuring stars from the old shows or by her comments during interviews for some of her other projects. At the moment, there has been no confirmation of any other stars of the Defenders Saga reprising their former Marvel roles other than Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen quickly and quietly in the coming phase.
Krysten Ritter Would Love to Return as Jessica Jones, and Fans Want It Too
Fans were thrilled at the return of Charlie Cox to the Marvel family when he made his comeback appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. However, thanks to several recent role reprisals by old Marvel stars, attention is always on which other former Marvel actors could soon be back in their old roles. Of course, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones is always near the top of that list, and her potential return is something Ritter herself is more than up for. She previously said:
"I would absolutely just die to play Jessica again. I had the best time doing it and I just love her so much. I'm so proud of that character. Not only because it was like a great role and she's such a badass, but that character has really resonated with people in a way that I don't know who else has. Really, really resonated with women and girls, trauma survivors. It's just so, so big and such a thing I'm so grateful to have been a part of. So if there's ever an opportunity for me to put on those boots, I will be there in a flash."
Of course, nothing is ever set in stone in the MCU until it actually happens on screen, so that means currently, there is plenty of scope for Ritter, and other stars, to make their way back into the sprawling Marvel narrative sometime in the near future.
