Although Eternals was met with mixed reviews from fans and critics, audiences would welcome more appearances from the immensely powerful group of heroes. The film arrived in November 2021, introducing MCU fans to the race of immortal beings who shaped Earth's history and culture. The film featured an all-star cast, with Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Salma Hayek, and Kumail Nanjiani leading the way. Unfortunately, we've yet to see any characters reprise their role in another MCU project, though Nanjiani says he wants to continue his time with his character, Kingo.

The actor recently sat down with the Bingeworthy podcast, with his thoughts captured via The Playlist. During the episode, Nanjiani discussed his role in Eternals and why he would love to team up with another MCU star. "I would love to pair up with Ms. Marvel!" the actor explains. "I just love that show and I thought Iman [Vellani] was so good, and I just got to meet her and hang out with her for the first time, and she's just such a talented actor and such a wonderful human being, and I think we'd be great on screen together. I'd love to be paired up with Ms. Marvel."

Of course, Vellani made her MCU debut earlier this year as the titular star, also known as Kamala Khan, in Ms. Marvel. The Disney+ series introduced the hero into the connected universe alongside Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, and Zenobia Shroff. She would play the character for six episodes, and fans can expect to see her reprise her role in the upcoming film, The Marvels, alongside Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris in 2023.

When Will Kumail Nanjiani Return to the MCU?

The Eternals
Marvel Studios

Eternals was a success at the box office, though it didn't reach the heights of Marvel's biggest films. The picture grossed just over $400 million, comparable to other Phase Four origin movies such as Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. However, a cast of some of the biggest stars in Hollywood would be foolish to give up by Marvel, meaning fans will likely see a return from some of their favorite Eternals characters.

Although Patton Oswalt confirmed a sequel earlier this year, Kumail Nanjiani tells the Bingeworthy podcast he has yet to hear any word from Marvel Studios. "I have no idea. I don't think Patton was right," he explains. "I think that there was a hoax website - one of those where it's like one letter off from the real one. They tweeted it, and it spread around, and I think that's what Patton saw." He continues, "I honestly don't know anything. I would love for Kingo to come back. I love playing that character... That one's very fun to play, you're just in a good mood. You do finger guns, you're like a movie star - what's not to love? You're just in a good mood the entire time."

For now, fans will have to wait and see whether an eventual Eternals 2 is greenlit from Marvel Studios. Audiences expect to see more from the fantastic cast, although they may only appear in a Disney+ series or team-up movie from here on out. However, Nanjiani will appear alongside Iman Vellani's Ms. Marvel if he has any say in his character's future.
