BURBANK, CA (January 8, 2004) - On March 16th, TV enthusiasts will have the opportunity to relive the epic journeys of Kwai Chang Caine, played by David Carradine (Kill Bill Vol. 1 & Vol. 2) with the DVD release of Kung Fu: The Complete First Season from Warner Home Video (WHV). An extremely popular TV show in the 1970's, Kung Fu combined both martial arts and western genres. This unique style of storytelling catapulted the show to #1 among many key demographics for the ABC Television Network and helped spearhead resurgence for the network during the 1970's.

He is a man of peace in a violent land. He is Kwai Chang Caine, schooled in the spirit-mind-body ways of the Shaolin priesthood by the blind avuncular Master Po and the stern, yet loving, Master Kan. Caine speaks softly but he hits hard. He lives humbly, yet knows great contentment. He is the Old West's most unusual hero. But Hero is not a word Caine would use. He would simply say, "I am a man."

The release of this landmark television program will include a 3-disc box set with a special collector's DVD featuring two never-before-seen documentaries: "From Grasshopper To Caine: Creating Kung Fu" and "The Tao of Kwai Chang Caine: Production and Beyond." Kung Fu: The Complete First Season will be available on DVD for $39.98 SRP.

Kwai Chang Caine first journeyed into our living rooms on October 14, 1972, and from there, the series grew in popularity to heroic proportions. Certainly, much credit for the show's three-year run goes to the remarkable cast whose characters managed to endure a bevy of obstacles ranging from physical battles to the endearing lessons of life. Featured performances were made by Carradine, Keye Luke (Master Po), Philip Ahn (Master Kan) and Radames Pera (Young Caine), who all helped make this series compelling to viewers week after week and garnered multiple Emmy Award awards and Golden Globe nominations.

"Kung Fu turned out to be one of the most influential TV series of the 1970's and jump-started American interest in the martial arts," said Christine Martinez, WHV Vice President, Non-theatrical Franchise Marketing. "Warner Home Video is thrilled to be releasing Kung Fu, the most successful martial arts series of all time, on DVD."
