Vin Diesel took to his Facebook page to share the first photo from his new project The Last Witch Hunter, which has just started production. Take a look at the photo, along with his brief message to fans, and then read on for more info.

The Last Witch Hunter begins...

We first reported on this project in March 2013, when Vin Diesel became attached to star. The actor will play the immortal title character, who teams up with his mortal enemy, a powerful witch (Rose Leslie) to stop a coven from unleashing a plague that could destroy all of mankind. Michael Caine, Elijah Wood and True Detective's Ólafur Darri Ólafsson round out the supporting cast.

Breck Eisner is directing from a screenplay originally written by Cory Goodman, which landed on the 2010 Black List. Other writers such as D.W. Harper, Burk Sharpless, Matt Sazama and Melissa Wallack have worked on the script since then.

Mark Canton is producing alongside Bernie Goldmann and Vin Diesel, with Lakeshore Entertainment co-producing and co-financing alongside Lionsgate.
