The old and the new come together in the latest images from the upcoming sequel, Jurassic World Dominion. The latest look at the highly anticipated movie comes courtesy of Empire Magazine, with the images showing the likes of Sam Neill as Dr. Alan Grant, Laura Dern as Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Jeff Goldblum as Dr. Ian Malcolm standing alongside Chris Pratt as Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing. An additional image puts the spotlight on Ellie Sattler, with the moment harking back to an iconic Dino encounter from the very first Jurassic Park.

Directed by Colin Trevorrow, Jurassic World Dominion will pick up with our large cast of characters around four years after the Lockwood estate incident at the end of the previous installment, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans worldwide, but this fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history's most fearsome creatures.

The plot will see the return of several heroes from the Jurassic World franchise, such as Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, team up with some familiar faces from the franchise's past. Jurassic World Dominion will bring back legacy characters Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler, and Dr. Ian Malcolm all these years later, as they are no doubt horrified by the state of the world and the ramifications that began all the way back in 1993.

The experience proved to be an emotional one for all involved, with director Colin Trevorrow detailing the reaction of Jurassic World Dominion executive producer and Jurassic Park director Steven Spielberg. “The moment everybody shows up for the first time together, they’re all packed into a Jeep. And I took a picture of it and I sent it to Steven [Spielberg],” Trevorrow explained. “He got very emotional. I don’t think even he was prepared for how moving it would be to see all of those characters that he loves, and people that he loves, looking incredible and on an adventure together.”

Introducing audiences to a world now inhabited by dinosaurs while re-introducing both characters old and new, Jurassic World Dominion has a lot of ground to cover. Thus, it should come as little surprise that the follow-up will reportedly be the longest installment in the long-running franchise, clocking in at 2 hours and 26 minutes. Plenty of time to reunite with old friends and watch them run for their lives from dinosaur attacks.

Director Colin Trevorrow has written the screenplay for Jurassic World Dominion alongside Emily Carmichael, and the movie is based on a story by Trevorrow and his writing partner, Derek Connolly. Starring an ensemble cast that includes Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Daniella Pineda, Isabella Sermon, Justice Smith, Omar Sy, and BD Wong, each of whom will reprise their roles from previous movies, Jurassic World Dominion will also introduce Mamoudou Athie, Scott Haze, Dichen Lachman, Campbell Scott, and DeWanda Wise to proceedings.

Jurassic World Dominion is scheduled for theatrical release on June 10, 2022, by Universal Pictures.
