My Wife Is A Gangster: Queen Latifah is close to starring in Miramax Films' remake of the South Korean action-comedy My Wife Is a Gangster. The Hollywood Reporter says no director is on board, but the studio hopes to be in production by first quarter next year.
Adapted by Marc Klein, the story is about a female mob boss (Latifah) who gets married to please her dying sister. She chooses a poor, unsuspecting dupe who has no idea what he's getting into in the hopes that he won't ask too many questions. However, he starts to wise up, and she starts to fall in love.
Queen Latifah will serve as an executive producer. She is also developing another Korean remake titled No Blood No Tears, a female action comedy which follows two downtrodden women who decide to pull a con to scam money from their male oppressors.
