Lea Michele and Kate Upton will star in director William H. Macy's road trip sex comedy entitled The Layover, it was announced today by producers Keith Kjarval of Unified Pictures and Aaron L. Gilbert of Bron Studios. The Layover is written by David Hornsby and Lance Krall. The two have collaborated in the past on the popular TV series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, for which Hornsby was the writer, executive producer, and co-star.

Michele and Upton will play a pair of lifelong best friends who decide to avoid their problems by taking a vacation only to find that their plane has been rerouted due to a hurricane warning. To make matters worse, the two friends find themselves in a hilarious battle for the same guy during an extended layover in St. Louis. "The minute I met Lea and Kate, the film began to focus for me. They are singular, ambitious funny women in full. This is going to be fun."

Executive producers are Patricia Cox, who did the same on Macy's Rudderless and Jason Cloth of Creative Wealth Media Finance. Macy, who stars in the popular TV series Shameless, recently directed the film Rudderless, which closed Sundance and was acquired by Paramount Studios. He will also have a role in The Layover. Lea Michele is well known to TV viewers as Rachel on the long running series Glee and has just started shooting Ryan Murphy's Scream Queens. Supermodel Kate Upton recently appeared in Fox's box-office smash comedy The Other Woman alongside Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann.
