Shadowboxer: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Monster's Ball producer Lee Daniels, who produced the Sundance Dramatic Competition selection The Woodsman, starring Kevin Bacon, will make his directorial debut on the indie gangster project Shadowboxer.

Daniels is making deals for his ensemble cast and has already lined up Wes Bentley for a starring role in the film. Additional casting will be announced shortly, with shooting scheduled to start April 1 in Philadelphia.

Shadowboxer, penned by Monster's Ball co-scribe Will Rokos, centers on the unusual relationship between a mother and her stepson. The duo, who have a romantic relationship, work as contract killers. Bentley will play the lead villain on the hunt for the killer couple.
