Everyone's favorite blonde-bombshell attorney, Elle Woods, is coming back. Legally Blonde 3 is currently in development and is being written by actress and screenwriter Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor. The original film, named Legally Blonde, was released in cinemas in 2001 and was an instant success. The film spawned a sequel in 2003 titled Legally Blonde: Red, White, and Blonde.

Since its release, Legally Blonde has amassed a devoted following and has made the first film's stars more popular than they already were: Reese Witherspoon (who played Elle Woods) and Jennifer Coolidge (who played Paulette Bonafonté).

In the first Legally Blonde film, the plot centers on Elle Woods: a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend Warner Huntington III. Along the way, she defies prejudice against blondes and becomes a brilliant lawyer.

In the second film, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White, and Blonde, now a full-fledged attorney, Elle Woods travels to Washington, D.C., to speak out for animal rights. However, she is ignored by every politician she meets and discovers that navigating the White House can be much more complex than navigating the Ivy League.

The third film's details are scarce, including an exact release date, although many reputable reports claim it will be in theaters sometime in 2023. However, what's certain is that Reese Witherspoon will return to her iconic role. What's known of the plot is that Elle Woods is now in her early 40s and a mom with a successful legal career.

Reese Witherspoon recently spoke with Entertainment Tonight to discuss tidbits about the third installment in the Legally Blonde franchise. She also answered the question that every fan of the series had in mind: would famed actress Jennifer Coolidge return in her role as the lovable and warm-hearted manicurist Paulette Bonafonté?

Witherspoon responded, "There is no Legally Blonde 3 without Jennifer Coolidge." This was said despite reports that Coolidge had not yet been approached to participate in Legally Blonde 3 as of Oct. 2022.

Legally Blonde and The Morning Show star Reese Witherspoon recently sat down with late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss her illustrious career.

During the chat, Witherspoon made an interesting confession to the host and the audience, leaving everyone charmed and amused. Witherspoon stated that when she was a young teen actress, she met legendary actor Robert De Niro during one of her auditions. She relayed that she lost out on the role mainly because she was unaware of who De Niro was.

The film for which Witherspoon auditioned was the 1991 horror classic Cape Fear; Witherspoon added to Kimmel: "I didn't know who Robert De Niro was, so I was standing outside talking to the receptionist. She was like, 'You know he's the most important actor of our time, right?"

Reese Witherspoon is currently starring alongside Jennifer Aniston in the AppleTV+ series The Morning Show. In its second season, the series tells the personal and professional lives of people working at a popular American wake-up morning show.
