After playing Claire Temple in the critically-acclaimed Netflix TV series Marvel's Daredevil, actress Rosario Dawson is shifting over to DC, voicing Batgirl in Warner Bros.' The LEGO Batman Movie. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the actress has signed on to voice Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner James Gordon, who later goes on to become Batgirl. It isn't known yet if James Gordon will be a part of this story, or who will provide his voice.

Will Arnett reprises his role as Batman from last year's blockbuster The Lego Movie in the LEGO Batman Movie spinoff. Michael Cera (Robin) and Zach Galifianakis (Joker) have recently joined the voice cast as well. It isn't known what other characters from the DC Comics will be cast in The LEGO Batman Movie, or if Elizabeth Banks will return for as Wyldstyle, Batman's girlfriend from The Lego Movie.

Chris McKay, who served as an animation supervisor on The Lego Movie, will direct from a screenplay by Seth Grahame-Smith. The Lego Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are producing alongside Roy Lee and Dan Lin. No production schedule was given at this time.

The LEGO Batman Movie will hit theaters on February 10, 2017, going up against Fifty Shades Darker and The Mountain Between Us. The animated spinoff will be followed by Ninjago on September 22, 2017 and The Lego Movie Sequel on May 18, 2018. While we don't have any story details for The LEGO Batman Movie yet, Chris Miller revealed in an interview last year that the movie will span "every era of Batman filmmaking."

Rosario Dawson recently wrapped on Season 2 of Marvel's Daredevil, which debuts next spring on Netflix, and she will also be seen on The actress is no stranger to the DC Comics world, voicing Wonder Woman in the animated adventure Justice League: Throne of Atlantis and Artemis in the 2009 Wonder Woman movie.
