Don't worry, Batfans! The LEGO Batman Movie isn't about to gender swap one of DC Comics most iconic characters. An earlier report from Deadline claimed the soul singer was about to assume the role of Commissioner Gordon in this animated superhero spinoff. But she's actually playing the Mayor of Gotham.

Mariah Carey is currently in talks to voice the as yet unnamed Mayor of Gotham, according to THR. Warner Bros. is trying to keep the entire movie under wraps, so we likely won't hear exactly whom she's playing in terms of the character's name and role in the story any time soon. The film continues the adventures of the Dark Knight mini-fig first introduced on the big screen in 2014's The Lego Movie.

Mariah Carey is joining an impressive ensemble for this CGI animated adventure, which hits theaters in 2017. Will Arnett is reprising his role as Bruce Wayne, a mild mannered billionaire turned street justice vigilante. The former boyfriend of Wyldstyle will be joined by Michael Cera as Robin, Zach Galifianakis as The Joker, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl and Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth the Butler. At this time, it isn't known if the Mayor of Gotham likes to whistle while she works, but most assume Mariah Carey will be lending her pipes to at least one song in the movie.

Mariah Carey is also attached to star in a Christmas-themed movie that was pitched at New Line. The idea was preemptively purchased by RatPac Entertainment. It comes from writers David Diamond and David Weissman. Jon Shestack will produce. Having Mariah Carey star in a Christmas themed movie sounds like a no-brainer. 'All I Want For Christmas is You' is Her biggest international hit, which she wrote and performed in 1994. The single has sold more than 14 million copies worldwide. And is the biggest contemporary Christmas classic released over the last couple of decades.

Chris McKay, who served as animation supervisor on The Lego Movie, is making his directorial debut with The LEGO Batman Movie. He is working from a script by Seth Grahame-Smith (Gremlins, Beetlejuice 2). Dan Lin and Roy Lee are producing alongside Phil Lord and Chris Miller. It isn't known what other iconic Batman characters will be brought in for The LEGO Batman Movie, since there certainly are several to choose from. This spinoff is reportedly going to touch base with every Batman iteration to have come before it, both on the big and small screen.
