The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part will feature a cameo from none other than Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The highly-anticipated sequel is coming our way next month and is poised to be one of the first huge blockbusters of 2019. As with the first movie, it looks to be packed with cameos from beloved figures from pop culture in LEGO form and this time around, we're getting an appearance by the Notorious RBG.

It's been a huge past year for the 85-year-old political icon, who was the subject of two movies, the documentary RBG and the recently released biopic On the Basis of Sex, which stars Felicity Jones as Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Now, she's set to be immortalized in LEGO form as she's not only set to appear in The LEGO Movie 2, but she'll also have an actual figurine that will be released in stores depicting her likeness. Here's what director Mike Mitchell had to say about it.

"These movies are so full of surprises. And we were thinking, 'Who's the last person you would think to see in a Lego film as a minifig?' Ruth Bader Ginsburg!. And we're all huge fans. It made us laugh to think of having her enter this world... So there will be a real Ruth Bader Ginsburg toy that boys and girls can play with. It will even come with a gavel."

The creative team actually reached out to Ruth Bader Ginsburg to get permission to user her in the movie and she was apparently very receptive to the idea saying, "Of course, I'd love to be a Lego figure. That would be cool." Ginsburg, however, will not actually be voicing her part in the movie. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who serve as producers on this movie and directed the first LEGO Movie, had this to say about her appearance in a statement.

"We just were trying to think of people who should be immortalized in LEGO and who seem fun at weddings."

As for how Ruth Bader Ginsburg factors into the plot? We know that the sequel will see the characters we came to know and love in the first movie living in a post-apocalyptic wasteland as the result of a war that ultimately stems from a real-life brother and sister who are both playing with the beloved toy bricks, with Diplo being thrown into the mix this time around. Ginsburg will be brought in through the world created by the sister character.

To go along with the news, a new brief clip from the movie has been revealed that shows what Ginsburg looks like as a LEGO figure in the movie. The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is set to hit theaters on February 8. Be sure to check out the new clip below. This news was first reported by USA Today.
