This morning, LEGO announced that it will begin production on its new line of Star Wars: Episode VII inspired toys in the next couple of weeks. Along with this news, they recreated the now infamous cast photo using Minifigures, an image they debuted on both Facebook and Twitter.
It should be noted that none of the Star Wars characters seen in the photo are from the Star Wars 7 line of LEGO toys, and its an image that could court controversy for deciding to go with the Slave Leia version of Carrie Fisher's iconic character, given how vocal fans have been about the inclusion and treatment of women in this particular sci-fi franchise since the cast was announced with the original photo that debuted two months ago.
Take a look as LEGO versions of Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), C3PO, and Chewbacca join plastic Minifigures of John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson and director J.J. Abrams for the legendary table read that caught the attention of the entire world.
"You've met the actors, now meet the Minifigure cast of Star Wars: Episode VII!
It is both thrilling and surreal to start building in a couple of weeks, and we look forward to bringing this new world to life, once again (in 1/48 scale)!"
Star Wars: Episode VII picks up with Han, Luke and Leia 30 years after the destruction of the second Death Star as they must confront a new threat to the galaxy.
