Zoe Kravitz has produced some proud parents with her acclaimed performance as Catwoman in Matt ReevesThe Batman. Kravitz has been heaped with praise from fans and critics alike, but one person who was sure to make his voice heard was her father, Lenny Kravitz, who expressed his pride through a Twitter statement following the film's release.

Kravitz was one of the first to take to Twitter to express his pride and support towards his daughter’s captivating performance. He wrote “Congratulations, my love, on this iconic moment. I am so proud of you. #TheBatman.”

And he wasn’t the only family member to offer his public support as her step-father Jason Momoa was in attendance at the film’s premiere alongside the two daughters he shares with Zoe’s mother Lisa Bonet. Speaking at the red carpet Momoa stated: "We're just so proud, Lisa couldn't be here so we're representing, me and the babies. We're very excited to just be here."

It’s actually the second time Kravitz has portrayed the character having also provided the voice for Catwoman in The Lego Batman Movie. But stepping into the shoes of the iconic DC character in the latest live-action take still presented arguably the most significant role of her career so far. Some of her most recognizable credits to date come from supporting roles in major franchises such as Mad Max: Fury Road, Divergent and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The role of Catwoman also came with the weight of several other name actors who’ve provided some fan favorite performances as the character before, including Julie Newmar, Michelle Pfeiffer and Anne Hathaway. Kravitz still managed to capture the imagination of cinema-goers, though as she successfully put her own spin on the complex villain/anti-hero in The Batman.

Alongside Robert Pattinson, Kravitz proved a controversial casting choice for some darker corners of online forums when the announcements were made. But the stars have gone on to silence those cynics, with Kravitz, in particular, receiving a glowing critical reception. Some outlets even went as far as to claim she stole the show, a crime befitting her Catwoman persona.

Matt Reeves’ latest reinvention of the Batman series has been met with resounding acclaim across the board upon its release. Reeves has opted to focus more on the ‘World’s Greatest Detective side of the character, which is not something that has really been explored before on the silver screen. It makes The Batman a lot closer to a physiological thriller like something akin to the popular works of David Fincher and there certainly is a lot of influence drawn from that, in particular Zodiac. Without sacrificing the elements that make it distinctly Batman, Reeves appears to have trodden a fine line in pleasing all fans with something that is both loyal and fresh.

The obvious comparisons are being drawn to Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, which for many is the definitive big-screen depiction of the Caped Crusader. Paul Dano’s starring turn as the principal antagonist The Riddler has also drawn comparisons to Heath Ledger’s Oscar-winning performance as The Joker from that movie.

The success of The Batman could provide an ideal launching pad for Kravitz as she prepares for a career behind the camera, too with her directorial debut in Pussy Island currently in the works. The film is also being co-written by Kravitz and set to star her current boyfriend Channing Tatum.
