Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to Dennis Lehane's novel Live By Night, with Leonardo DiCaprio attached to star in and produce the adaptation.

The book takes characters from the author's novel, The Given Day, and places them in the Prohibition Era. The Given Day was originally set up at Columbia Pictures back in 2008, for Sam Raimi to direct. The option expired on the project, and was acquired by Warner Bros., which now controls all rights to this novel trilogy. Live By Night will be published later this fall.

Jennifer Davisson Killoran will produce through the actor's Appian Way production company. No production schedule was given.
