According to Variety, Leonardo DiCaprio is set to star in Michael Mann's next film. The piece is an untitled detective story set on the MGM lot back in the '30s.

The project will be a noir drama, about a film studio P.I. that is hired to investigate the murder of a young starlet's husband. Did she do it? I guess you'll have to watch the finished film to find out.

John Logan wrote the script. Inside sources indicate that the piece is very solid, and has an authentic eye for period detail. Mann has been working on the script with Logan for sometime now. They last worked on the The Aviator together, which Mann produced.

Shooting mostly on soundstages, the film will begin production sometime in February.
