After an exhaustive casting search, Warner Bros. has hired young actor Levi Miller to play Peter Pan in director Joe Wright's Pan.

The filmmaker was looking for a fresh face to cast in the title role, with open casting calls held in the U.K. Levi Miller's biggest credit to date was a guest-starring role on the short-lived Fox series Terra Nova, along with roles in two short films.

The actor joins a cast that already includes Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard, Garrett Hedlund as Captain Hook, Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily and Adeel Akhtar as Hook's right-hand man Smee. The story, written by Jason Fuchs, is set during World War II, following the orphaned Peter Pan, who is kidnapped by pirates and brought to Neverland. The young man learns he is destined to save this magical world from the nefarious Blackbeard. The director is assembling an international cast, with the title character conceived in a much different way than previous iterations.

Greg Berlanti, Paul Webster and Sarah Schechter are producing for Warner Bros., although it isn't known when production may begin.
