Jesse Eisenberg first played Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman and his performance was divisive amongst DC fans. However, his brief appearance during a mid-credit scene in Justice League brought forth a new excitement for the actor to return as the iconic villain. In a recent interview, Eisenberg says that he "hopes" to return to the DCEU as Lex Luthor in a future movie, but admitted that he didn't know anything about the behind-the-scenes actions at DC Films and Warner Bros. at this time.

There has been a lot of talk and speculation among fans about Man of Steel 2 or even a Legion of Doom movie and Jesse Eisenberg is up for reprising his portrayal of Lex Luthor for whatever comes down the line in the DCEU. While noting that he didn't have any information about any of those projects, the actor said that the villain was the "most enjoyable" character he's ever gotten to play. Eisenberg then jokingly asked the interviewer if he had any pull with the DCEU. He had this to say.

"I hope so. I mean, I have no idea is the truth. I love playing the character. Probably in terms of movie acting, it's the most enjoyable character I've had the opportunity to play. So, I would love to do it again. But I don't know what their slate is. If you have any pull, please use it."

It's no secret that the production of Justice League was plagued with difficulty for a variety of different reasons. We have a terrible CGI removal of a mustache to a clunky story along with a difference in vision from original director Zack Snyder and newcomer to the project, Joss Whedon. One of the things that had been reported quite frequently was that Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor originally had a much larger part in the movie, but his scenes were cut. The actor maintains that this rumor is not true. When asked about the rumor, Jesse Eisenberg says that his scenes were always meant to be at the end and that they even added more parts. Eisenberg said, "No. I was in it after the credits. No, no... Actually, on the contrary, they added some stuff."

Henry Cavill is under contract to play Superman one more time, and the actor has stated that he would like to return to the role for a more traditional, "feel-good" solo movie. DC fans want Man of Steel 2, but nothing has been officially announced at this time. It has also been rumored that the next time we see Cavill on the big screen as Superman could be in the upcoming Shazam!, so we'll just have to wait and see at this point.

Both Henry Cavill and Jesse Eisenberg are hopeful to reprise their roles as the hero and the villain, respectively, so hopefully the DCEU finds some room for them in the upcoming future. As for now, there has been a lot of change behind-the-scenes for DC Films and Warner Bros., which may have an impact on how long it takes to see a Legion of Doom movie or Man of Steel 2.
