Having won an Oscar for his Milk screenplay, writer Dustin Lance Black is now stepping into the director's chair for What's Wrong with Virginia. According to Variety, both Liam Neeson and Jennifer Connelly have signed on to star in the drama.

Black wrote the screenplay, with Gus Van Sant attached as an executive producer. Connelly will star as the psychologically disturbed mother of a 16-year-old son. Neeson is set to play her love interest, a sheriff that is now running for state senate. Their twenty-year relationship is tested when Connelly's son begins dating the sheriff's daughter.

What's Wrong with Virginia will begin filming in Michigan this summer.
