Triple X: On Tuesday I attended a press junket for Triple X at Revolution Studios where myself and a few other schlubs were shown an advance screening of the trailer that hit the web today along with a few 4 minute scenes from the movie.
What I can say at this point is that action lovers will love this movie. While I was a bit skeptical on the teetering cheesiness of the flick, I can say that after seeing the clips from the movie that Vin Diesel has made it. He definitely brings a quality to action films that turn people into fans of his acting. While maybe not up to par with godlike statures of action stars like Swartzenegger & Stallone, Vin Diesel is on his way.
From the clips we saw and from what we heard from the publicists mouth, it seems that the film is heavily based on the crazy, yet practical stunts performed in the movie. This comes as no surprise considering we've seen Vin Diesel's character, Xander, surf a car as it plummets to it's doom, ride motorcycles through balls of fire, and get chased by an avalanche while riding down a mountain on a snowboard.
As far as plot goes, it seems like the movie is going to be your be your run of the mill "badass outlaw, defies authority, but being the best in the business, is hired to do some secret government job" type of movie. And of course it'll be branding it's own unique twists and turns on the "secret agent" genre. Oh yeah...there's a girl. Of course.
I feel that the action in this movie along with the attitude portrayed in Vin Diesel will set this movie apart from the rest of this summer's blockbusters. And trust me, you're definitely gonna wanna see Diesel do his stuff. Like I said, although I was skeptical, but I walked out wanting to see more! And more is what you'll be seeing if the film does well at the box office as the Sony reps were already speaking of the Triple X trilogy!
Make no mistakes about it, Triple X is an action movie for action lovers. Stay tuned for more as it comes to us!
