Lindsay Lohan is back to making movies, courtesy of Netflix. Previously, it had been announced by the streamer that Lohan would star in the holiday rom-com Falling for Christmas, marking her return to starring in feature films. On Tuesday, Deadline reported that Lohan signed a new 2-picture deal with Netflix to star in an additional two films, meaning no less than three features with the Mean Girls star in the lead are on their way to the streaming service.

It's not clear as of now which other two films will star Lohan. In Falling for Christmas, which is heading to Netflix in 2022, Lohan plays a newly engaged, spoiled hotel heiress who gets into a skiing accident and suffers from total amnesia. She finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner (Chord Overstreet) and his precocious daughter in the days leading up to Christmas.

"We’re so happy with our collaboration with Lindsay to date, and we’re thrilled to continue our partnership with her,” said Netflix’s Director of Independent Film, Christina Rogers, in a statement. “We look forward to bringing more of her films to our members around the world.”

The actress herself also addressed the news with an Instagram post. Posting an image of the Deadline article, Lohan simply wrote, "Exciting things to come!"

A former child star Lindsay Lohan found fame with her breakthrough role in Disney's The Parent Trap in 1998, leading to big roles in other movies like Freaky Friday and Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. 2004's Mean Girls would become one of her best known films, though she's also known for movies like Herbie: Fully Loaded, Chapter 27, Machete, and Among the Shadows. On the small screen, she appeared in Sky One's series Sick Note and led her own MTV reality series Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club. More recently, she starred in a 2022 Super Bowl commercial for Planet Fitness, poking fun at her past controversies.

Recently, the 35-year-old actress also joined the social media platform TikTok. Introducing herself on the app, Lohan revealed that many people have been pronouncing her name incorrectly for decades. Many were surprised to know that her name is pronounced "Low-en" and not "Low-han." In any case, the former child star is back to starring in new films, thanks to Netflix. Perhaps this will mean that she will one day make the Mean Girls follow-up that she has previously teased.

"I should probably get back to doing movies at some point," Lohan told David Spade on Lights Out in 2020. "I think I was hanging on to Mean Girls for a really long time. I wanted to come back with a Mean Girls 2. To work with Tina Fey, and the whole crew again, and Mark Waters. That was really what I wanted. I was excited to do that. But that's all in their hands, really. So that would definitely be an exciting thing."
