In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate will be buying domestic rights to director Steven Soderbergh's Knockout.

The spy film stars mixed martial arts fighter Gina Carano.

Relativity is financing this project. Soderbergh isn't taking any "upfront salary," instead he will receive "a stake in the movie."

Lionsgate will release the film via its output deal with Relativity. Even though no date has been established, it seems that Lionsgate might be able to release the film by the end of the 2010.

This project was put on the fast track for Soderbergh when his baseball film Moneyball ran into some production curve-balls last June.

The film will shoot this February and casting is planning to begin shortly.
