Lionsgate is getting internationally dangerous with this release. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate has picked up the North American distribution rights to Bangkok Dangerous. This marks the second Pang Brothers remake for Lionsgate, which recently distributed an American version of The Eye, based off the Oxide Pang Chun and Danny Pang's 2002 film The Eye.

The Pang Brothers directed this Bangkok Dangerous remake themselves, from a script by Jason Richman, which stars Nicolas Cage as a hitman who has to kill four different men in the Thai city, but his feelings for a young local girl complicate matters.

Lionsgate is aiming for a summer 2008 release for the film, which was shot entirely on location in Thailand. A specific release date was not announced.
