Anne Hathaway took to social media to beat the body shamers and haters by announcing that she's gaining weight for a new movie role. The outspoken actress wanted to get ahead of the news before people start to criticize her body in the media, which seems like a pretty good idea in theory. Hathaway didn't specify which movie she was gaining the weight for, but there's a handful of new projects in the pipeline with one called Live Fast Die Hot, which is a drama about a New York woman who changes dramatically when she becomes a mom.

Anne Hathaway is no stranger to getting ahead of the press. While the 35-year old actress was pregnant with her first child, she shared a picture of herself in a bikini after noticing that the paparazzi were snapping photos of her. She figured it was best to share a picture that she was happy about, instead of someone else profiting off of her body. She added that the picture was taken with her consent and joked that she even got to use a filter.

Now that she's gaining weight for a new movie, Anne Hathaway decided to try the same approach that she did with the pregnant bikini picture. Hathaway posted a video of her working out on her Instagram account, and preemptively addressed the body shamers and haters in the world. She even noted that she wanted to use the Queen song "Fat Bottomed Girls," but was unable to due to copyright restrictions. She had this to say.

"I am gaining weight for a movie role and it is going well. To all the people who are going to fat shame me in the upcoming months, it's not me, it's you. Peace xx. PS -- I wanted to set this to Queen's Fat Bottomed Girls but copyright said (no). Continued peace xx."

For somebody who dislikes "haters" so much, Anne Hathaway certainly addresses them quite frequently. Right before the 2018 Academy Awards, Hathaway took to social media to share a picture of herself winning the Best Supporting Actress Award for her role in Les Miserables. The actress addressed all of her haters who talked trash for the way that she looked and sounded as she sang that night and then wished all of the 2018 nominees the best. She said.

"I had to change my dress last minute and so it looked like my nipples were hard, I had full blown laryngitis and had to sing, and a bunch of corny haters were getting lots of attention from the media for being haters, but you know what? It was still the best. To all the nominees, I hope you have a blast tonight doing all that #bestlife #oscars stuff. Peace xx."

The "corny haters" are always going to be out there, but in the times of the internet trolls, it might just be best to let the haters hate and ignore them. It is refreshing to see an actress like Anne Hathaway call out people, but it might add more fuel to the hater and troll fires that burn bright across the internet. Regardless, you can check out the actress happily gaining weight for her next project below, thanks to Anne Hathaway's Instagram account.
