Warner Bros. has set screenwriter Liz Garcia to adapt the first book in the series The Au Pairs written by Melissa de la Cruz.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, De la Cruz's best-selling novels detail the flirty fun of three teenage girls who answer an ad to become au pairs for the summer in the Hamptons to a rich family with four kids. Sex, sand and shopping ensue.

Flower Films' Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen are producing, and Alloy Entertainment's Leslie Morgenstein and Bob Levy are executive producing.

Warners picked up the film rights to the four young-adult books in 2006, before Gossip Girl, itself derived from a series of teen-girl titles, was launched on the CW. Alloy produced that series as well.

No production date has been set.
