Journey 2: The Mysterious Island director Brad Peyton has signed on to re-write and direct Lobo, the languishing DC Comics adaptation which Guy Ritchie was once set to direct.

Back in January 2010, we reported that Guy Ritchie left the project to direct the fast-tracked sequel Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. We haven't heard anything since then, but this project now seems to be back on track with its new director attached.

Lobo is an interstellar bounty hunter and mercenary who travels the galaxy looking for his next target. The character was created in 1984 by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, and reached new levels of popularity in the 1990s, when he was resurrected as a renegade biker.

Akiva Goldsman and Joel Silver are producing for the studio, although no production schedule was given.
