Logan Lerman has signed on to star alongside Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf in the World War II drama Fury.

The story centers on a five-man American tank crew in 1945, just as the Nazi army begins to collapse at the tail end of World War II. Logan Lerman is playing Norman Ellison, an Army typist who is the youngest of the crew, who is forced to become their new tail gunner.

David Ayer is directing from his own screenplay, which sold for a hefty $1 million to QED International. Bill Block, John Lesher, and Ethan Smith are producing, with shooting scheduled to begin this fall.

Logan Lerman most recently starred The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and reprises his title role in Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, opening in theaters August 16.
