Details surrounding the second season of Loki are currently rather scarce, but one star has now confirmed their return. During an appearance on Good Morning America, Gugu Mbatha-Raw has revealed that, while she is obliged to keep everything else a secret, she can confirm that her TVA Hunter Ravonna Renslayer will be back for more when Loki Season 2 hits Disney+.

"I know there is a season two," Mbatha-Raw said in an interview with Michael Strahan on Good Morning America," I know that I'm in it... and that's about all I can say!"

A complex villain, Ravonna Renslayer goes on quite the journey during the first season of Loki, beginning as TVA Hunter A-23 before rising through the ranks to become a respected judge and overseeing the Loki variant investigation. When her world comes crashing down following revelations from Miss Minutes and He Who Remains, Renslayer embarks on a mission to find "free will.”

Her last moments during the finale leave the door wide open for much more adventure, as Gugu Mbatha-Raw's character explores the multiverse before being brought back into whatever mischief Loki has gotten himself into this time around. Gugu Mbatha-Raw is as excited as anyone to bring Ravonna Renslayer back for more. “Well, I just love Renslayer. I’m so excited to explore her further, and I’m so happy that people are really looking forward to the next season,” the actress said.

Filming on the second season of Loki is now due to begin later this year, with reports stating that production is expected to start in June. Filming will take place at Pinewood Studios in England. Few other details have been revealed so far, though these same reports did contain a brief tease of what Loki’s return will entail saying, "the mercurial villain as he continues his work as god of mischief, the action is set across the Marvel multiverse."

The first season of Loki sees Tom Hiddleston reprise the title role, and picks up with an alternate version of the fan-favorite character. Last seen stealing the Tesseract during the events of 2019's Avengers: Endgame, this variant version of Loki is brought to the mysterious Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors the timeline. They give Loki a choice: face being erased from existence due to being a "time-variant," or help fix the timeline and stop a greater threat.

Loki Season 2 is likely to pick up at the point that the first season ended. With the multiverse now unleashed, Loki has been left stranded in a universe in which no one remembers who he is, and with Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror now, well, conquering, there will be plenty for The God of Mischief to do.

Thanks to confirmation from Gugu Mbatha-Raw, we can now expect many familiar faces from Loki Season 1 to return for Season 2, including Owen Wilson, Wunmi Mosaku, and Sophia Di Martino. The first season of Loki is available now on Disney+.
