Earlier this month, we /london-has-fallen-loses-director-frederik-bond/reported that Fredrik Bond parted ways with the upcoming Olympus Has Fallen sequel London Has Fallen due to creative differences. Today, Millennium has announced that Easy Money: Hard to Kill director Babak Najafi is close to making a deal to take the director's seat.

The sequel is set in London, where the British Prime Minister has passed away under mysterious circumstances. His funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the Western world. But what starts out as the most protected event on earth, turns into a deadly plot to kill the world's most powerful leaders and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. Only three people have any hope of stopping it: the President of the United States, his formidable secret service head, and an English MI-6 agent who rightly trusts no one.

The project will begin shooting next month with stars Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett and Melissa Leo. It will then break until February with Gerard Butler joining to finish the film. The two-part schedule will accommodate the star, who is currently filming Geostorm.

Babak Najafi also directed a few episodes of Cinemax's Banshee, but the project is the director's English-language feature debut.
