News of a brand-new animated Star Wars based series broke a few weeks ago, but that report had the show being based on a popular line of toys meant for pre-schoolers. Variety is now reporting that Lucasfilm is actually gearing up to produce an adult-oriented Star Wars comedy series.

The animated half-hour is being produced by Jennifer Hill and directed by Todd Grimes. The Daily Show's Brendan Hay will be a writer on the program, while Robot Chicken's Seth Green and Matthew Seinreich will have creative involvement. There were no other details at this time about the actual contents of the show.

This will be the second animated Star Wars series produced exclusively for television. No start date or network has been announced at this time.
