Fox's DC Comics adaptation Lucifer has added yet another actor to its growing cast, with Chicago Fire actress Lauren German signing on to play the female lead. The actress will play LAPD detective Chloe Dancer, who is "both repulsed and fascinated with Lucifer," played by Tom Ellis. Lina Esco also stars as the demon Mazikeen.

The show is based on the DC Comics/Vertigo character who initially was featured in Neil Gaiman's Sandman before getting his own comic book series, which ran for 75 issues between 2000 and 2006. The pilot will center on Lucifer, who becomes bored from ruling over the underworld and decides to take up residency in Los Angeles, where he finds amusement in helping the LAPD torture criminals. When Lucifer and Chloe both work together to solve a murder, he is taken aback by her "inherent goodness." After dealing with the worst humanity has to offer in the underworld, Lucifer begins to wonder if there is hope for the human race.

Len Wiseman is directing the pilot episode, which was written by series creator Tom Kapinos (Californication). Both Len Wiseman and Tom Kapinos will serve as executive producers alongside Jonathan Littman and Jerry Bruckheimer, with KristieAnne Reed serving as co-executive producer. Lauren German is best known for playing Leslie Shay on NBC's Chicago Fire, and she also had an arc on CBS' Hawaii Five-0.
