Dave Bautista has lined up his next starring role. The Dune and Army of the Dead star has just boarded the cast of Knock at the Cabin, the next movie from M. Night Shyamalan. From Universal Pictures, the movie is scheduled for an early 2023 release, though it's not yet clear when filming will begin on the project. It's the latest collaboration for the studio and Shyamalan following the recent release of Old.

For Knock at the Cabin, Shyamalan will write and direct as he typically does with his movies. He's also producing with Ashwin Rajan under his Blinding Edge Pictures banner alongside Marc Bienstock and Steven Schneider. Reportedly, Dave Bautista was quick to jump on board the project just for the opportunity to work with Shyamalan.

We recently saw Bautista in some big roles, which include appearing in Denis Villeneuve's Dune and leading Zack Snyder's Netflix zombie flick Army of the Dead. The actor also recently wrapped his work on Rian Johnson's Knives Out 2, a movie he has teased is even better than the first. Bautista has also been promoting a planned buddy cop movie with Jason Momoa in the vein of a modern Lethal Weapon.

“Just going to throw this out into the atmosphere and see what happens. Here we go... Me and Momoa in a Lethal Weapon type buddy cop movie directed by David Leitch. Ok! There it is. Now we wait," Bautista pitched on social media, determined to manifest this project into a reality. The idea caught on with fans and that was only exacerbated when Momoa said he'd be up for the movie. Studios also noticed and just over two months later, the gears were in motion for it to really happen. MGM won a bidding war for the rights.

In an update on Instagram, Bautista wrote, “2 months 11 days wait time. Acceptable! We came, We hugged, We conquered. Proud AF of this accomplishment. We materialized this from nothing more than love, respect and a desire to work together again. Love you brother Jason Momoa. We manifested the sh*t out of this! Big Love over Big Egos. We win!”

Knock at the Cabin is the latest of many collaborations between M. Night Shyamalan and Universal. The studio has also released his features Old (2021), Glass (2019), Split (2017), and The Visit (2015). The director is also known for directing movies like The Sixth Sense, Signs, and The Village. He is typically known for introducing a big twist at the end of his movies, with The Sixth Sense setting a precedent with the big reveal about Bruce Willis's character.

Shyamalan is also producing the upcoming thriller The Vanishings at Caddo Lake, which is directed by Celine Held and Logan George. It picks up with the disappearance of a young girl with subsequent connections linking the mystery to past deaths and disappearances at Caddo Lake. It starts Dylan O'Brien, Eliza Scanlen, Lauren Ambrose, and Eric Lange. Filming on that project was just wrapped last month.

Knock at the Cabin will be released in theaters on Feb. 3, 2023.
